Are Muslims misled by Muhammad?

Muhammad is the founder of Islam and according to Muslims he compiled the holy book of Islam, the Qur’an. Therefore he should be a reliable resource for Muslims to follow in lifestyle practices. However, there are some problems for Muslims when they want to follow Muhammad and still want to have peace with God Almighty:

1. Muhammed gave Muslims a command to kill

Although Muslims are guided to obey the law of God, including not to murder someone (Qur’an, 2:42, 24:6-8, 78:35), Muhammad commanded Muslims to kill: “Muhammad said to his companions: As he comes down, I will extend my hands towards his head and when I hold him fast, you should do your job. So when he came down and he was holding his cloak under his arm, they said to him: We sense from you a very fine smell. He said: Yes, I have with me a mistress who is the most scented of the women of Arabia. He said: Allow me to smell (the scent on your head). He said: Yes, you may smell. So he caught it and smelt. Then he said: Allow me to do so (once again). He then held his head fast and said to his companions: Do your job. And they killed him” (Sahih Muslim, Book 19, Hadith 4436) [1]. Muhammad gave instructions to Muslims against the law of God by allowing them to tell lies.

2. Muhammed recommended Muslims to drink urine

Muhammad gave Muslim instructions to drink camel urine: “Narrated by Anas bin Malik: A group of eight men from the tribe of "Ukil came to the Prophet and then they found the climate of Medina unsuitable for them. So, they said, "O Allah"s Apostle! Provide us with some milk." Allah"s Apostle said, "I recommend that you should join the herd of camels." So they went and drank the urine and the milk of the camels (as a medicine) till they became healthy and fat. Then they killed the shepherd and drove away the camels, and they became unbelievers after whey were Muslims. When the Prophet was informed by a shouter for help, he sent some men in their pursuit, and before the sun rose high, they were brought, and he had their hands and feet cut off. Then he ordered for nails which were heated and passed over their eyes, and whey were left in the Harra (i.e. rocky land in Medina). They asked for water, and nobody provided them with water till they died (Abu Qilaba, a sub-narrator said, "They committed murder and theft and fought against Allah and His Apostle, and spread evil in the land.")” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 261) [2]. Because of Muhammad’s authority as a religious leader, people believed drinking urine was a good medicine, although medical research has proven it is bad of the health [3].

3. Muhammad had forbidden relations with women

Muhammad was not able to obey Qur’an guidelines about the relations between a man and women. He had 13 women, while Qur’an 4:3 allows only 4 women. Muhammad also took Zaynab bint Jahsh, the beautiful wife of his adopted son Zayd ibn Haaritha. Her saw her in underwear and then married her. By taking the wife of someone else he commited stealing property of someone else (Qur’an 5:38). Furthermore, Muhammad at the age of more than 50 years old married the 9 year old girl Aisha and had sex with her: “Narrated by Aisha: The Prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became Allright, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah"s Blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah"s Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age”(Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 234) [4]. Muhammad gave a bad example to Muslims how to behave to women.

4. Conclusion

Muhammad has proven to fail to follow the law of God in all circumstances and cannot be a reliable person to follow for Muslims in all cases. To stay in God’s will, a Muslim need to find additional resources to find the straight path to Paradise.
